Diggs Quality Painting was founded in Alamo Heights by John Diggs in the 1970’s. John hales from a long line of painters going back to the early 1900’s. His father was an Air Force colonel who was a logistics and transportation coordinator. He provided fleet management and made sure his group was at its readiness for any contingency.  After retirement, he was a manager for the city of Seattle.  There he managed the departments of transportation, lighting, and buildings.  Through his diverse work, he instilled in John a disciplined work ethic and the importance of reputation and integrity. Following in the footsteps of his older brother, David, and several uncles he founded a house painting business rooted in quality, not quantity.

John began his path by working with his brother in Hawaii for 5 years trying to determine his life’s work. John’s brother David was a true Renaissance man.  He was an artist and painter, but not the usual painter.  David would paint large murals and Frescos for client’s homes and estates. He particularly liked to embellish the ornamental gates to estates all over Oahu.  David and John formed a bond which took David to San Antonio to work with John on projects and John to Hawaii to help David with his commissions.

 Leaving Hawaii and opening his own painting business, John has operated from the same location for 45 years. Through the years, John has built up quite the clientele, with many relationships lasting for decades. John primarily works in Alamo Heights, Terrell Hills, and Olmos Park. These tiny municipalities are known for their mix of grand estates, historical buildings, and smaller family homes, many built in the 1930's. John stays close to his home base of clients, but he has been known to travel outside San Antonio to renew a family river or lake house retreat.  He has even refreshed some large ranch houses when his schedule has allowed. Justin started out as a young teenager working for his father, learning the family business. Justin spent so much time with his father in his early years painting, that he became indispensable and spent as much time as he could assisting his father. In his early 20's, he moved to Honolulu Hawaii and started a painting company of his own, Diggs Painting '09.
